Psychological Profiling and Threat Modeling

About the Training

This three-day Psychological Profiling & Threat Modeling class focuses on sophisticated new ways of rapidly detecting and solving complex cases, even when the evidence is destroyed or potentially non-existent. The class emphasis is as much on tactics as it is on specific techniques. The goal is to understand and out-think the adversary, not to attempt to match technical prowess against elusive foes that are almost always one step ahead technically.

Instead of focusing on computers and technology, this course emphasizes better investigations through a larger understanding and analysis of the human element behind technical crimes.

Who Should Attend

This class is best suited for law enforcement organizations, intelligence agencies and professional, full-time investigators with a specialization in cyber crime.  Specifically, the class is for law enforcement personnel and intelligence analysts and operatives who are involved in investigations, undercover field work, or intelligence related analysis, and who also specialize in working in cyber related investigations or insider threat cases.

What You Will Learn

Psychological Profiling and Threat Identification

This class teaches a sophisticated psychological profiling system which allows investigators to covertly detect insiders and solve complex cases rapidly, even when the evidence is non-existent or was destroyed prior to the initiation of an investigation. This profiling system covertly detects and ferrets out insider threats faster and with less expense than traditional investigations and polygraphs.

The system may be used on its own, or to enhance polygraph results by equipping the examiner with advance knowledge of specific “sore spot” issues held by the subject. Using this methodology, the examiner will understand the subject better, interpret his responses, and even anticipate likely responses before the polygraph beginsAttendees also learn to rapidly and covertly identify a suspect out of a pool of a large number of individuals without tipping their hand to the investigation.

Our profiling system can assist in identifying the precise trigger mechanism that will cause a specific subject to become a security threat years before the event occurs, instead of after. Finally, attendees learn how psychological profiling can be used to covertly identify individuals for law enforcement investigation, targeted intelligence collection, or counterintelligence investigative analysis and surveillance.

Throughout the class, numerous cyber security case histories are used to illustrate the effectiveness of the various techniques discussed.

Class Eligibility

Due to the highly sensitive nature of this class, this class is only available to law enforcement organizations, intelligence agencies, and verifiable full-time professional commercial investigators. Commercial non-law enforcement personnel without security clearances are welcome to apply, but Gray Hat Research will carefully review such applicants on an individual basis. Our review will include the background, credentials and the “need to know” of all such applicants.
